Plastic is Fantastic: Industry Momentum at K 2025

28.10.2025

This year, the international trade fair for plastics and rubber in Düsseldorf was more than just a forum – it became a stage for a new mindset within the plastics industry. Dominic Fiel, Executive Director of the Plastic is Fantastic Association, reflects: “The fair clearly exceeded our expectations. The response was overwhelming.”

Even in the very first hours of the event, it became clear: visitors were curious, interested, and open to the appearance of the newly founded Plastic is Fantastic Association.

Strong Messages, Strong Reactions

“The atmosphere at the booth was incredibly positive and full of energy,” says Dominic Fiel. Visitors were thrilled to see someone finally taking a proactive, confident stand against plastic bashing - backed by clear facts.

A particular highlight was the Association’s mascot, Captain Plasto. “Countless visitors took selfies and group photos. Captain Plasto became a true crowd favorite and a symbol for our movement,” recalls Dominic Fiel.

The core message of the Association – “Powerful Material. Powerful Voice.” – struck a chord with partners, media, and visitors alike. “Our message resonated both emotionally and rationally. Media and partners immediately recognized that this fact-based approach gives the industry new energy,” explains Dominic Fiel.

Global Networking, Clear Strategy for the Future

Common topics at the booths included circular economy, carbon footprint, and active membership in the Association: “Many visitors wanted to understand how we combine science, communication, and education to effectively counter misinformation with solid facts.”

Dominic Fiel was particularly impressed by the international attention: “Plastic associations from all over the world – from South America to New Zealand – actively offered to collaborate. That shows: plastic connects people across countries, languages, and markets.”

K 2025 provided clear momentum for the future work of the Plastic is Fantastic Association. Executive Director Fiel: “We want to use this momentum to expand our global reach, create new alliances, and develop communication formats that connect knowledge with emotion. The positive response showed us that we’re on the right track – the demand for clarity and education is stronger than ever.” Dominic Fiel concludes: “K 2025 sent a strong signal: the plastics industry is ready to stand up – confidently, united, and with facts – for its role in a sustainable future.”

Full Power, Next Appearance

“We’ll definitely be back at K in 2028,” says Dominic Fiel. And he adds: “By then, we want to return with a structure that is even stronger and internationally established – as a global alliance that has firmly anchored fact-based education about plastics. The goal is to reach even more people around the world by then and, above all, to show end consumers the enormous benefits of plastics.” The Executive Director looks ahead: “We will continue to focus on dialogue, science, and emotion – and use the momentum of K 2025 to shape a global movement. Plastic is Fantastic – Powerful Material. Powerful Voice. By then, this should not only be a motto, but a clear symbol of education, collaboration, and pride in what our industry achieves.”
